a buddy has a 2000 Toyota Camry went to trade it in at the CarMax in new York state so he had me go with him so that he knew what he was getting into. they took the car car out while he was looking at I new car they tried to get him into the value lot yeah right a 2004 ford focus with 100 k on it for 9000 great value not so after looking around found a 2008 kia ompitma with 70k on it for 8900 so the sales lady came out and said the trade in was done.

walked into the same dealership and everything had changed the guy who did the trade in was not where to be found just a computer that said his car need a roof a door a bumper and that it was only worth 700 dollars for a 2000 Toyota camry with 90k on that is clean no way I told her well it has rust I said where underneath I was told. funny thing about that I am mechanic so I went out and I show them no rust as I knew well right here they show me the lip of the door starting to chip off and turn into rust I laughed and said over half of the cars here have that. well that's all I can give you for it. I stated that that same car is going through the auction for around 4000.

morle of the story people is that they try to rip you off make 5000 off of you and smile the whole time while they do to you.

never used CarMax before and will never do it again. I hope that no one goes there ever for the fact of you get ripped off on trade in and the car you want not a good place to buy or sell what good is it then.

Monetary Loss: $5000.

Location: Rochester, New York

My husband and I decided to trade in our vehicle to Carmax in August for a car better on gas. We traded in a 2009 Jeep Commander for a 2012 Volkswagen.

A month later after we had the car, Carmax call us and tell us that there had been a mistake with the amount that we owed on our previous vehicle. They stated they had to send the bank with whom we received our loan, $700 due to that mistake and now, we had to pay them back, that $700. Carmax made a mistake with the paperwork from the loan we had with our previous vehicle and the previous bank. Due to that, we now have to pay them $700 because of the contract that we signed.

Thus, increasing our monthly payments on our car because that is how we are paying the $700 back. They failed to get all of their numbers correct, even when our bank sent them them the amount owed on the Jeep. The finance department is unintelligent at best and has no clue how to manage an account of a $1 much less accounts in the thousands. Do Not!

Trade in your car to Carmax.

They will make you pay for their mistakes. Furthermore, If you are military and looking to trade, Do !!!trade to Carmax.
