They completely over-exaggerated miniscule dings as being needed items of 'major repair' thus greatly reducing the price of the car (extremely minor 'hail damage' which in fact was unnoticeable dents probably from rocks from normal driving) The car listed on kbb was listed in fair condition, not good or excellent, fair-the lowest- as just over 5k. They offered me $250.00.

That's right. They offered me one-twentieth (1/20th) of what kbb said it was worth. If you really want to understand the true nature of what Carmax is about, listen to this: Carmax is a corporation of theives. This is a company for 2 kinds of people: Desperate and ***.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CARMAX. TURN BACK NOW WHILE YOU STILL CAN.

TELL YOUR FRIENDS. DO NOT EVER GO THERE OR ADVISE ANYBODY TO EXCEPT AS A CRUEL JOKE.

Monetary Loss: $5000.

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Okay, being a biz man turned auto-sales mgr I can tell you "your car is a Depreciating asset" & the car companies work with the banks to ***! That's right!

Say you buy an your approved for a 3.9% apr for 66 and salesman comes out and says "congrats you are approved for a 5.9% apr for 66" . Now, don't be pissed at your salesman, he is not the *** here. Just the greedy "community pillar-dealer & the bankers in Manhattan counting profit at your expense! You think 2 pt?

Big deal and you fight and heckle over price and get best deal. Well bend over Bc your getting f-d! Take your typ 2-4pt apr% add-on say on a $20k purchase = $40-80 month. Almost $5k in applied apr!!

That $ is split between dealer & bank! Biggest scam thanks Uncle Sam

They gotcha by the balls! So carmax makes money off their financing, plus the profit on the purchase, plus any trade in!

Then they have the nerve, and the b@***l$ to pay a sales consultant $160 per vehicle!!!! That is just good ole American Red White and Blue pure BS! Then on top of that, a consultant WON'T get a commission of $50 for a trade-in!!! No wonder why sales people leave that *** company, or become a manager!

The managers know they were getting screwed,so they boss everyone around now and get a salary PLUS A BUDGET BONUS!!

carmax is a cancer that spread all over the U.S and customers are becoming aware of their scam! :grin

Leasing is a real no-no! Unless you have a business and can write off taxes, dont lease!

That $35,000.00 Murano you leased for 4 years and THEN DECIDED TO BUY will have cost you $50,000.00 by the time you take another loan for 5 or 6 years! All because you wanted a lower monthly payment for a nicer car you probably couldn't have afforded in the first place! The same thing happened in the housing market!

Just think about how much that Murano cost you after 9 years of payments!! I recommend dealers give out calculators to the customers before they lease!

When you buy new, you are getting a factory warranty. It's peace of mind knowing that YOU are the one that decides how well this vehicle is cared for.

Some folks dont care so much about how they take care of thier vehicle and others do. The biggest mistake people make is not keeping thier vehicle before its paid off, and find themselves shafted without any vaseline! You really get taken to the cleaners when you owe more money than your car is worth! Even buying new you will overpay because dealers need to make money, BUT YOU ARE GETTING A BRAND SPANKING NEW VEHICLE!

Used vehicles many times were previous owner(s) headaches! You never know why someone wanted to sell thier vehicle.

There are many things a customer is told when buying a used car. You are told well if you buy new you lose 30% the minute you drive off the lot!

Well buying a used vehicle is not much different. There are many risks when you buy used as well. Many fleets or rentals are driven hard and abused by people. Would you want someone beating on your car?

The dealer will explain that rentals and fleets are well maintained and there are strict rules, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THE VEHICLES WERE NOT BEAT ON! I would consider a fleet or rental if it cost 1/2 price, and take my chances, but those vehicle are not 1/2 price.

Good morning everyone, today I would like to talk about the post by Joesmith. The idea of an appraisal on your vehicle is to set your expectations low so you start thinking in your mind that your vehicle is not worth as much as you thought.

You wont hear things like WOW, NICE CAR! This strategy puts ideas in your head and this way you are more likely to take a lower offer.

Guest

Fleets and rentals are likely abused vehicles. Just because carmax tells you these vehicles are well maintained DOES NOT MEAN people dont abuse them!

Its a way of sugar coating to the car buyer so you buy from them! Who wants a used car, it was someone elses problems before you bought it.

Guest

I dont see many carmax fans posting anything lately! I am wondering if those carmax fans are unable to justify the company.

Guest

People need to keep the vehicles they have and fix them as needed. It's a wonderful thing NOT to have a car payment so people can enjoy other things in life. A vehicle is just needed to get from here to there.

Guest

Yeahahaha, guess what consumers? Carmax then takes that car they stole from you for 250.00 and then sells them out back to dealers for 4-8 times that, if they choose not to sell them on the lot.

The dealer then marks THAT price up 1000-****$ to be sold to said *** from a little "mom and pop" dealership.

If you even go to carmax/any car dealership other then to buy new/lease, you're an *** because that is where they rob people of the clothes off of their back. Trust me, I know.

If you look at the BIG PICTURE, carmax makes big profits ripping customers off. That is the BOTTOM LINE.

There is no other way to explain it. I am willing to bet corporate sleeps very well at night. People have this idea in thier heads that corporations care about customers, the truth is they don't.

It's all about making money. It's NOT ABOUT CUSTOMERS!
