Carmax needs to address this customer publicly, make the damned refund, and never allow a sales rep to cheat a customer out of the refund again! Policy should MANDATE the customer is procted at every turn in such a situation.

Carmax in Norcross, Georgia - Poor Customer Service, Service Dept & Rental & Loaner Cars

If you are a non-smoker DO NOT take a loaner or rental car from CarMaxx! The cigarette odor was so strong in both vehicles we got sick from the smell and could not drive either vehicle. Windshield on new vehicle was cracked, CarMaxx held our vehicle for 3 days with no repair, we returned smokey the loaner car and 4-5 days later the windshield company for CarMaxx came to our place of business & fixed it. Your assigned customer rep is either too busy to help your or never there. Do yourself a favor and go to a old fashioned car dealer and not one that deals strictly in volume and NOT customer service. CarMaxx only wants to sell vehicles not stand behind them and repair them in a reasonable amount of time. Be prepared to be w/o your vehicle for 5-10 days. We will Never go back to CarMaxx!

average appointments have to be scheduled 2.5 weeks out because of the customer volume on first call first booked basis

That's hard to believe. I've purchased 2 cars through Car Max, and have paid almost a month past the due date more than once when my husband lost his job.

They didn't report it to credit bureaus and didn't hassle me by phone.

We've never needed any major repairs on either car. I'm not discrediting the possibility that your vehicle had so many problems in a 3 to 4 week period (although it sounds strange to have your car in the shop 4 times for 3 different problems in a few week period), but that doesn't mean they knew about these things and tried to trick you into buying a lemon.

Carmax Bait and Switch

On Monday, March 15, 2010 I took my 2004 Jeep Cherokee in for front brake repair. Was quoted $190.00 over the phone. I had called several places and found this to be a comparable price. I decided to take the vehicle to Carmax because that is where it was purchased and we had already had repairs done at their service department. I waited for the repair to be completed. Went to the counter to pay after it was completed and imagine my surprise when I was presented with a bill in excess of $560.00. They had done an entire brake job, front and rear and never told me what they were doing or how much it was going to cost. When I complained, they didn't seem to care. I could have gotten the brake job done at a more reasonable price if I had been given the whole story up front. I feel like this was a clear case of Bait and Switch. They quoted one price over the phone and then did something different when I got to the service department. I WILL NEVER USE THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN.
