Shady. I take my car for an appraisal. I recently paid it off. However, the credit company's lien is still on the car due to not being removed yet. Carmax says because I owe nothing on it, they can't buy it. If I still owed money, they would buy it even though the lien...

Carmax review in Miami, Florida: Clever scheme to sell you lemons that they promise to later fix

3.0
Details
Make no mistake: CarMax offers poor quality cars. But they offer solid warranties. That's their business model. If you walk in understanding that truth, you will have the right expectations. I bought a car and in less than 24 hours, the check engine light came on. Did you hear that? A major malfunction...with a newly-purchased car...on Day 1! Luckily for me, the have a 30-day warranty on all cars. So whatever piece of junk they sell you, they promise to fix every issue that you find in 30 days. And if you need warranties beyond the 30-day period, CarMax will sell that to you as well. They have mastered the game of selling you something that will break, along with the promise to fix it when it breaks.

Carmax review in Miami, Florida: Service sucks

my car has been in the shop for 5 days now complaint was tires shaking cracked tail light housings top did not work hydraulic leak when you step on brake dash lights go on. while they where waiting for the parts they did not have common sense enough to get the other two systems repaired. now it has to go out to get top repaired to a sub contractor and they are sending it to the dealer for the lights this is incompetence on how they do things. Sales on the other hand was great they walked me thru the process of transferring tags and i was pleased with them

So true. Every time I need anything fixed it takes 5-7 days.

They call with daily updates - which is nice but who the heck cares... We need our cars not calls!!!

I will just pay $100 at the local Infiniti dealership under the car max care warranty next time and get it fixed in 1 day. The service center is a joke!

Please understand, anyone with any ability to properly service your vehicle left or was pushed out years ago. Only the destitute remain.

Dealer is your only option

Sooo.... I guess the former Regional Human Resource Manager has left Carmax.

What a shocking surprise.

Another person directly impacted by the Regional HR Director's poor leadership. I will not absolve this person for her involvement in the cluster of a supposed...

I work for CarMax as a manager. I go down the pole so I can go up the ladder.

CarMax is a glorified buy here/pay here lot. There really is NOTHING special about us.we all have "certification" and "inspections" and I'm sure they resort to the same old sleazeball tactics when it comes to selling.

Carmax review in Miami, Florida: Sold a Defective/Lemon Vehicle

I bought a 2006 Pacifica in 2009; I also bought their Maxcare Extended Warranty. The car has shut off without warning >20 times. It has been taken into CarMax and the Chrysler Dealers; numerous times, "repairs" have been made. Yet the car continues to shut off without warning. Furthermore, CarMax has stated they cannot recreate the problem so the car is fine. I'm afraid for my safety, the safety of my family and the safety of others driving around me. CarMax's response is there is nothing they can do but they will buy my car back for less than 1/2 of what I paid for it and less than what is still owed on the car, and for me to buy another car from them. I mean they've got to be kidding me!! The Maxcare Extended Warranty is still in effect but it seems like CarMax is trying to ignore me as long as they can until the warranty expires and they no longer have to do anything. If I had the luxury of taking the car to a junk yard and buying a new one I would do it tomorrow! But here I am a hazard on the road driving this death vehicle, because it's my only means of transportation. I have contacted a lawyer; I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Florida Attorney General.

First off, you bought a Chrysler.. what do you expect?

Second, If what you say is truthful, they are legally bound to fix or replace the car due to the "warranty" that was purchased

#1 It is CarMax’s fault for selling a defective car. CarMax prides itself on creating a dealership experience unlike any other and justifies their higher prices with a simple guarantee: the vehicle they’re selling you has been thoroughly inspected, has never been in a frame damaging accident, flooded, or experienced any other incident that would make it an “undesirable.” CarMax has so much faith in the quality of their vehicle selection that all of their vehicles are available with an extended warranty, which I purchased.

#2 What the *** do you know about what CarMax is and/or isn’t doing in my situation? Absolutely NOTHING!

#3 I very well did my homework and again a DEFECTIVE CAR IS A DEFECTIVE CAR, regardless of it’s brand.

#4 If you work for CarMax, why don’t you do something productive with your day and solve the issue at hand, rather than talk out your ***.

Hard to blame CarMax. They're doing all they can with this lemon.

Probably a lot more than most other dealers would.

Next time you go car shopping invest a few dollars and check with Consumer Reports. If you had done your homework you would know that Chrysler products are the least reliable of the major brands.
