Bought a 2006 Nissan Murano from Carmax. Vehicle has been nothing but problems from the first week of it being mine. Took the vehicle back up to CARMAX to have issues evaluated, only to find that CARMAX's 100 point inspection is more like 50 or 60. Multiple recalls,...

Once again, another pissed (dumb) consumer who bought a car from a franchised dealership and wonders why he got a *** deal. Your first mistake was going to Carmax.

Your second mistake was going to Carmax. Your third mistake was going to Carmax. Dealers cannot be trusted from the start, and you buy a car from a Maaco style (as in lots of them, backed by fancy ads and a common household name) dealership that *** glitter and rainbows, and wonder why your stuck in a rut? Its called google.

Research any place item or thing your gonna buy and get some history on it before you commit to buy. There is nobody to blame but yourself.

For over 2 months I watched a vehicle in a Carmax office in Hickory NC. It was a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and fully loaded with only 41K miles. It was beautiful. In September, on a Thursday, I saw that it had been transferred to the Greensboro NC store. That day...

Well well, it is so wonderful to hear from other CarMax customers and their interesting experiences. I too, have had a long experience with my CarMax dealer, and am preparing to visit them again.

The history of my vehicle is as follows. My wife and I visited our dealer in Overland Park/Merriam Kansas to purchase a lovely 2004 Nissan Quest. We were quite happy with the vehicle but noticed there were some malfunctioning electrical issues. We also noted the appearance of possible body repairs and requested a "CarFax".

We were presented with a vehicle history that showed the vehicle had been owned in St.Louis by an individual and then had been repossessed and the title transferred to an autobody repair specialist in St. Louis. We questioned whether this might indicate the vehicle was previously wrecked. We received reassurance that in fact was not the case, as CarMax does not purchase vehicles with significant body damage.

We purchased the car after the dealer agreed to bring all issues to satisfactory. We purchased additional warranty.

The vehicle began to leak from the driver door upon travel through the first rain storm. We attempted to have the issue repaired many times. We were pushed back on until my wife threatened to leave the vehicle and sue. The dealer transferred the car to a Nissan Dealer who found the hinges had been installed improperly after an apparant repair which was "easily found". The dealer agreed to repair/replace the hinges and correct the door alignment. There has been a loud bang in the front end when turning the vehicle at the maximum rotation while backing in either direction. The dealer has been unable to determine any problem with the front end and suggested this was normal. Yeah well whatever. Now the front end is roaring and sounds like the transfer or whatever it is called is going out. We will schedule a repair and hopefully, have a wonderful report of how CarMax "got our problem fixed". Stay tuned auto buyers. The Buyer Beware!!

I believe it is *** shoot when you buy used, no matter from whom you purchase the automobile. It is the follow up that makes the difference. CarMax, here is another chance for you to come through. I hope your word and your warranty was worth it.

We were interested in viewing a Honda Odyssey that we found on the carmax website. It was at the San Antonio location. When we got there, the sales clerk (Chris) admitted he had only been there for 5 months. He had 6 hours notice that we were coming to view the...

Seems like you're asking them to do things they can't do. Go in with realistic expectations and you won't be disappointed. Having a new sales person might have been problematic, but they have to start somewhere!

Dear Author,

Your Subaru dealership just rip you off $500

There is NO car in the world that needs fluids / plugs / wires changed at 37,000 miles. Even at 60,000 miles, all fluids, sparks plugs, wires, coolant, etc..

are in excellent shape.

ALL you need is oil changed and TAP off (Not change) fluids due to evaporation. Some fluids becomes dark brown such as transmission and steering fluid but are still good.

This is probably what the Subaru dealership scam you on with a sample of transmission / steering fluid that is dark brown but still very good.

Running towards 70-100k miles is when you should worry about changing ANY fluid. (Except engine oil)
