I went to the Carmax in Houston/SW Freeway store. We were looking for a car to get me back and forth to school - good gas mileage, fair mileage on vehicle, and decent price.

I test drove a 2006 Scion xB, which I promptly fell in love with. We came with our own financing...however, after three hours, the manager came in and said we didn't have the right paperwork and would need to get it and come back (it was a Saturday night, so we couldn't remedy until Monday). My salesman and the finance manager said "Don't worry, this car has been here for almost three months. It's not going anywhere." On Monday I called the salesman to let him know we were on our way.

He says ok, then calls me back 10 minutes later to inform me that the vehicle is being transferred to the Gulf Fwy store because someone is there and wants to buy...and already has financing completed. Broke my heart!! I went to a different (non-Carmax) dealership and found a great car that meets my needs, and I am happy with my purchase. However, imagine my surprise when I found the exact same Scion xB STILL IN INVENTORY at the SW Fwy Carmax TODAY!!!!!

They lied to me!!!!! I am so upset, I actually plan to contact the BBB in just a few minutes to report their horrible customer service and sales practices.

From what I'm reading CARMAX needs to get their ducks in order. Between making it difficult to buy a car, then lying, and some of the other things I've been reading I'm surely going to stay away from CARMAX. Don't deserve my business.

well maybe them lying to you is a good thing after all because if they lied to you about the car being gone then who knows what else they'd lie about. After Reading all these bad experiences maybe carmax did you a favor know what I mean.

Ah... the wonders of social media. Once again they "want to get in touch with a customer who has been fouled." Amazing how that works.
