CarMax: Stiffing the trusting consumer!
I purchase a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport back in August 2015. I had been in an accident and thus needed a vehicle sooner than I had wanted one.
So, I got this one. a month or so later, the brakes started squealing badly and the temperature had gone down finally so the ac was off and the windows up. I could hear leaking air from the driver side window. skip ahead a few months because I couldn't get in sooner due to no PTO and the Carmax service center isn't open on Saturdays.
They tell me, "Oh the brakes are well within the "" tolerance, we can replace them with more expensive brakes[smirking], and the seal can be replaced at the Mitsubishi dealer", which btw, there is only one in southern california.
So I take it about a month or so later to Glendale. The shop supervisor was kind enough to fix it all for free. What was wrong? He advised me that this car had been in an serious accident(which Carmax did not release) by all the signs of repair, ie.
overspray under the hood, the leaking air was actually due to the whole door frame was bent. He advised me to alert Carmax to make good on it. Thankfully I do have his documentation that states the damage.
Now do I have a leg to stand on legally. Even Caliber collision advised I should take it to Carmax, but being as seedy as they appear to be, will they just find yet another way to seep
