So i took my car to carmax 8 months ago, they appraised it and gave me a reasonable offer. A little low but not horrible.

Then i went to get it appraised today and even the sales person was openly shocked and couldn't even defend the company for the extremely low ball appraisal. He is the one that told me that he wants to find out what they claim depreaciated it so much in 8 months because it was 4 thousand less in 8 months. When he came out he said they claim it's because people aren't in the market for a prius. The funny think is his inital and open disgust at the appraisal then he told me what they said but even he didn't buy it.

Fist off, I'm looking to sell it because the market is in damand of used prius. Everywhere i have been dealers are openly seeking to convince people to tade in their pruis because they are in damand.

Secondly i get not being able to always match kbb. However appraising it at 5 thousand under kbb for the condition they said it was in!

A lowball appraisal only hurts the salesperson because carmax uses the salesperson like a fool.

Customers should give their vehicles to their kids, and buy a NEW vehicle. I would rather give my car away to family, then get ripped off by a trade in.

I personally think carmax should be open on Thanksgiving Day. Its just another reason for making money screwing customers AND to abuse the employees by having them come in and stand around waiting.

If it is slow, the managers can always do crr's and observations! carmax can stick their crr's and observations up their ***.

Dont you just love how the salespeople walk around your vehicle pointing out all the dents and dings and scratches! This is good ole pure american ***! carmax tries to set your expectations low so they can drill a nice long thick shaft in your ***!

I don't believe any salesperson should defend carmax. There is nothing in it for a salesperson to do so.

If carmax can expect salespeople to work for free, then salespeople should never defend carmax! carmax corporate and managers will defend carmax, but not salespeople.

This does happen. I have been told by other sales people that they also were amazed how low the offer was for their customers vehicle.

Who knows, carmax may have many of that particular vehicle in their lots, so they dont need that vehicle so much. But that doesn't justify the CUSTOMER BEING LOWBALLED, DOES IT?

Please stay away from carmax, and avoid any disappointments. Sell your car privately.
