Carmax in Norcross, Georgia - Poor Customer Service, Service Dept & Rental & Loaner Cars

If you are a non-smoker DO NOT take a loaner or rental car from CarMaxx! The cigarette odor was so strong in both vehicles we got sick from the smell and could not drive either vehicle. Windshield on new vehicle was cracked, CarMaxx held our vehicle for 3 days with no repair, we returned smokey the loaner car and 4-5 days later the windshield company for CarMaxx came to our place of business & fixed it. Your assigned customer rep is either too busy to help your or never there. Do yourself a favor and go to a old fashioned car dealer and not one that deals strictly in volume and NOT customer service. CarMaxx only wants to sell vehicles not stand behind them and repair them in a reasonable amount of time. Be prepared to be w/o your vehicle for 5-10 days. We will Never go back to CarMaxx!

average appointments have to be scheduled 2.5 weeks out because of the customer volume on first call first booked basis

Carmax - Repair Review

I bought a car from carmax and had problems from the day I bought the car I returned to the dealer for several repairs and they could not repair the car so they sent it to the Mercedes dealer and only authorised minimal repairs not all of the repairs and I had to pay the difference in using factory parts b/c carmax would only pay for after market parts that did not come with a warranty. I went to trade my car and found out it has been in 2 major accidents. They told me my car had a clean car fax...they lied!

Carmax lowball ripping people off appraisals

KBB has my car it 29k. Edmunds at 28k. Black Book at 27k (as trade in values, not private party as they were higher) I take my car into CarMax and they lowball offered me at 23k... The appraiser was a ***. Car is in excellent condition. Yes excellent as it was bought brand new and is less than a year old ( 2012 Lexus CT hybrid )and he said stuff to the extent that my rear bumper needed repair and repaint. I said, "what???? show me where" as the car is in excellent condition, he points to a "1 inch scratch" that was on the OEM rear bumper clear applique/protector. I said what the ***? its a freaking clear protective sticker that comes off. If you remove that protectant sticker so with the surface scratch on the sticker will come off as well. What repair/repainting needs to be done??? Idiots I tell you.

I think all sales consultants should refuse to go on any test drives BEFORE the appraisal is finished, because a lowball appraisal will kill the deal for sure. The customers should always go watch the appraisers and not walk the lot and waste everyones time.

That's hard to believe. I've purchased 2 cars through Car Max, and have paid almost a month past the due date more than once when my husband lost his job.

They didn't report it to credit bureaus and didn't hassle me by phone.

We've never needed any major repairs on either car. I'm not discrediting the possibility that your vehicle had so many problems in a 3 to 4 week period (although it sounds strange to have your car in the shop 4 times for 3 different problems in a few week period), but that doesn't mean they knew about these things and tried to trick you into buying a lemon.

So markbras, that vehicle was leaking and getting all wet inside while it sat on the lot at carmax. Can you imagine a sales person going on a test drive and noticing this problem?

How come carmax did not fix it then?

Hmmmmm, I am wondering if carmax waited for someone to purchase the vehicle and let them bring it back! Way to go carmax!
