First off, Carmax should have caught the vehicle up to its service interval for that mileage which would include the timing BELT ( it does not have a chain) as for the brakes & motor mount, if the brakes have at least 30% left, they should leave them alone, it sounds like your mechanic was trying to make a buck as brakes are common upsells when they have anything less than 50%. People bs customers and prey on emotions with saftey issues. I assure you, if it NEEDED brakes, Carmax would have done them, The motor mount is probably a bs item your mechanic wants to upsell you also, unless its completely broken or falling apart, it is normal to see some stress cracking on a 100,000 mile vehicle, keep in mind, this is not something thats going to leave you on the side of the road and you did not buy a new vehicle, it will have normal wear & tear.

If you did your research before purchasing that 01 Deville you would have found that they all have terrible reviews because it's not a good car...Carmax didn't sell you a lemon, you made an uninformed impulse buy.

My wife and I made multiple visits to carmax over a two week period. We asked multiple times what documents we needed to purchase a car. We had approved financing AND cash in hand to put down. On our 3rd visit to the store, we find out that they do not accept an expired license with the temporary DMV paper that says the valid license is on its way.

At any rate, despite being told the general manager would contact us, nearly a dozen phone calls, and 3 more trips to the store in Raleigh, NC we have still never been contacted by the general manager.

Our credit rating was also affected despite what was told to us by Carmax employees.

You would think that asking "what do we need to bring to buy a car today" would be a straight forward question, but in fact, it is not.

We were offered the same car, we had wanted to buy 2 weeks earlier, as a solution to the hours of time over 5 visits and a dozen phone calls that were spent in dealing with Carmax.

My wife was also told that she was here on an expired visa when we attempted to use her passport to purchase a car. This is also incorrect. I don't know why I had a sales manager at Carmax telling my wife that she is essentially here illegally when 1) she is not and 2) we're there to buy a car, cash in hand with approved financing.

PS, in California, the speed limit on the open highway is 75mph, so it is a bit of a problem when my almost $30,000 car is limping in the right lane doing 60 so it won\'t fall apart!

I got my vehicle repaired through the Toyota dealer, all at my own effort. Although some bigwig at CarMax called me, they did absolutely nothing.

I still believe you should never buy from CarMax. They have become completely unethical.
