I purchased a car at Carmax in Henderson, Nevada in June of 2012, it is nearly October of 2012 and the Carmax service department (after 3 appointments) has yet to fix the brakes on this car. It is a very simple fix, the rotors need to be turned as the brakes grab in a...

Well I was about to go there to look at cars. Im not now thanks to your review.

Companies need to realize that customers do pay attention to these comments and if your after service is like this then I shall let my fingers do the walking and keep on searching online.

July 10, 2012 Carmax Ripped me off! I bought a car from the Carmax at the 59 South and Hillcroft location (SW Freeway) on June 4th. I put $6000 dollars down on the vehicle. I had to take the car back on June 6th because of a noise that was evidence something was...

Carmax is dishonest and will not repair vehicles

Went to Carmax of Newport news to look at a 2006 dodge truck-vehicle was dirty, lights not properly attached or not operating, paint covered in scratches(I mean front to back, top to bottom). Wanted me to sign and buy before any repairs would be made(this is unacceptable). A few days later I found what I thought to be a good vehicle-wrong. Heater door not operating properly and the tachometer quit working half way through the test drive. Agreement was made that if the vehicle would be fixed that I was ready to buy. Carmax had the truck for 3 weeks(I returned twice to find that the vehicle had not been repaired and then was told that I had to buy before inspecting and verifying that everything was corrected. This is not the way to do business! If you want to sell a vehicle you need to be willing to repair problems found by the customer before they hand over their hard earned dollar. After they had the vehicle for 3 weeks and not allowing for repair verification I walked away and I will never do business with Carmax and advise anyone who will listen to do the same. Carmax are crooks, cheats, and thieves. All they want is to sell you a car and get your money, they don't care what condition the vehicle is in as long as you are willing to sign the papers. Obviously they did not have confidence that the vehicle had been repaired or knew that it was still broken, otherwise there should have been no problem letting me inspect the vehicle to make sure it was fixed. If you cant or wont fix the vehicle to sell it what makes me think you will fix it after I buy it? INSPECT CAREFULLY AND DEMAND REPAIRS BEFORE YOU BUY-IT'S YOUR RIGHT.

Does anyone notice that the majority of the vehicles that these complaints are about are about Dodges? maybe we should take a hint and don't buy Dodge?

just an idea...

After the "Bail out" Fiat now runs Dodge, Fiat was banned here in the USA because of extremely low safety standards.. Sleep on that

I am not a *** for not spending my money on a p.o.s. that I checked out before buying.

The point here is that they were not going to fix the vehicle regardless of I buy it or not. They had the truck for over 3 weeks to fix 2 problems that were found on the test drive.

If that is how they want to sell you a car then the advertising should not state"New car quality at a used car price." it should say give us your money and then go away. And yes they do try to hide the problems with the vehicles-that is why I say inspect carefully and demand repair before you buy!

In response to the comment below me,

The problem with carmax today is they are trying to HIDE problems with cars they sell. At one point many years ago the issues were addressed before the customer purchased the vehicle. Carmax is now no better then any locally owned dealership across America.

Buyer beware, have a second party check the vehicle before signing on the dotted line.

Carmax has turned into Wall Street profits, not putting the customer first.

I don't know how bad your local CarMax might be but, the one my girlfriend went to to get her car, (ended up with a PT Cruiser), is in Irvine, CA. Clean, neat, friendly people, clean vehicles...

Her car did have some issues but, while it was within it's "30 day Limited Warranty," they fixed everything we complained about. It took a while but, because it was included in either the 30 day warranty, or the Extended one (can't remember which), they gave her a loaner vehicle both times... Worked out fine.

I would recommend them...but I would always get the Extended Warranty because, as was stated by someone else above, you are buying someone else's USED car...i.e. you never know what'll turn up.

I called the phone number, this was b-s generic response to let someone think Carmax gives a ***. Talked to the rep explaining my posting to this site, he had no clue what I was talking about.

He then listened to my complaints and gave the standard"sorry you hade a bad experience, we don't normally do business like this". Now that my eyes are opened I can't believe I ever considered doing business with these people. Take a good look at the vehicles-even on the website. I have seen pictures of vehicles they are trying to sell with the light hanging off of the front bumper.

They won't even fix the vehicles to take decent picture. I have seen soda spills on the dash board.

I would be embarrassed to try and sell a vehicle in the condition most of these are in. INSPECT CAREFULLY AND DEMAND REPAIR BEFORE YOU BUY.
