My wife purchased a BMWX3 at CarMax used car section May 15 2014. In 4 Days light came on for vehicle, needing a Oil change. Brought vehicle in, and CarMax took care of the issue. On Fathers Day we had to get the truck towed to CarMax because of, I believe Electrical...

I hope Carmax in Modesto is as good to me and does the right thing like they did for you. I just want to be made while with a car that I paid for!

I had a very bad experience buying my car from CarMax. First of all, I waited approximately 45 minutes to get my paperwork notarized and completed. I was told this was because they "didn't have enough people" working that morning. Then only about a mile or so after...

I had a very similar experience, only my mechanic discovered the oil leak (and longer history of mechanical issues) the day after I bought the car - we took it right back. Good news was they were great in taking back the car and giving us back our trade in.

However, based on their store policy this car should never have been sold, so I cannot trust any aspect of their internal inspection system or policy. Can't go back.

We purchased a 2007 GMC Sierra Denali, 6 months later we had to have the transmission replaced. The transmission shop said the transmission had been bad for a very long time. When my husband was getting our oil changed they made a comment that the car had extensive...

Anon is absolutely correct. Welcome to the world of buying used vehicles!

I have never had any problems with the certified used vehicles I have purchased in the past. I also never buy American.

I purchased a 2010 Toyota Corolla and the tires repeatedly gave a sensor. When I took the car for the first oil change, the mechanic expressed the tires were no good. This was 3 months after purchasing the car. I put air in the tire and the sensor goes away. I took...

Why would a dealership be responsible for worn tires after you owned and drove the car for over three months? That's like saying they are responsible to put gas in it too for you.

As long as the tires have at least 3/32" on the shallowest part of the tread, the tires are still fine.

And your sensor issue was obviously just low air pressure in your tire. It's completely normal for air pressure to slowly seep out over time.

I went to carmax because I found a genesis coupe there! Very rare car to find with low miles 21xxx. So I went and test drove the car and fell In love with it, and the mileage and price was extremely good 20k. There was another genesis at a Hyundai dealer but it got...

You'll have to excuse big Al. He's one of the "PR hogs".

Their one & only job is to go on sites like these and defend the company from all the people they screw over. They're called the hogs because carmax released a picture of them & they're all fat & just terrible to look at. I'm so glad you're angry Al. Hows sales this fiscal year?

Still in the decline? :)

I just wanted to give my 2 cents on my experience with CarMax in buying my used car. I had a car that Kelly blue book listed at $9200 in Excellent condition for the miles and features. I learned that using autotrader.com and submitting your car for sale through their...

My KBB value on my car was $2,829. My 2006 XB was in great condition, but had well over 177,000 miles on it (all work related) .

Just sold my car to Carmax this past Sunday for $3000 and will be purchasing a 2012 Mini Countryman through them with an awesome APR with Wells Fargo. I do admit, my salesman kind of sucked.... bad. He didn't seem very knowledgable and so not web savy during the application process..

but he was elderly and friendly. I'm excited and currently in the transit process, waiting patiently for my cars arrival at the dealer.

So far no complaints. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well :)

I bought my very first car at Carmax in Hartford CT. I was so proud of my Jaguar S-Type. My sales person assured me that it was a good car and told me they went through a list of possible issues and everything checked out. I felt confident and happy about the decision...

Well, that car is known for having loads of problems. Just because you bought it from carmax doesn't mean that it magically won't develop future problems which normally happen to that car.

But still, forgetting to put the dipstick back in the car after an oil change is unexcusable

.. I've been reading all the complaints about CarMax on this site today, and would like to give my opinion. First "as far as employees are concerned" almost all companies treat their employees like ***. I am a professional Chef who works for Hyatt hotels and resorts....

Wow... you know I also read all the reviews on here and decided out of the blue that I would get on here and write a ridiculously long essay without bashing carmax.

This is another obese member og the carmax corporate PR team.

Carmax sells ***. That is all.

In a nutshell when you have an issue along with proof for their service departments incompetence they are unwilling to make it right. I purchased my 2009 Jaguar XF vehicle from Carmax in April 2011 and within 3 months the undertray/shield was dragging on the ground. ...

A splash shield is a very simple piece. Just a few bolts holding on a piece of plastic. I'll bet it was BROKEN when you bought it and both times, carmax just tried to glue it back together.
