I purchased a 2005 Acura TSX through Carmax in 2010 and I am in the process of selling the car now. I feel that I am knowledgeable with cars and I noticed the hood, quarter panel and bumper were not as glossy as the rest of the car about a month after my purchase but I...

CarMax in Ontario, Ca

My mother purchased a 2002 Jeep Wrangler from Carmax on Dec. 2, 2009. The car was acutually purchased for me to get to work. When we purchased the Jeep, the salesperson told us the car had a clean carfax. And its funny cause when you walk into a CarMax they promote that and even in their TV advertisements. We decided to trade in the Jeep this past week and while making the deal for a newer car, the salesperson gives me a copy of the carfax that shows the jeep was involved in a car accident in 2003. So here we are, we have a loan through Carmax financing for a vehicle that does not have a clean carfax, we can not trade it in because the value of the jeep decreased because of the car accident in 2003. I feel for all of the people that have written a review about their experience. It can happen to anyone even a person like myself who is in law enforcement. But I will just continue to press this issue to get it resolved.

I don't know if you were misinformed but carmax uses autocheck not carfax. Being in law-enforcement you should know different agencies report to the two different companies.

I always pull both when looking at cars.

You'd be surprised the differences on the two. Strange I know, but it is what it is.

Carmax in Jacksonville, North Carolina - Car Max - Raleigh

I was pre-approved for an auto loan. Perfect, I start shopping around and the salesman would never return my calls. I finally spoke with him explained exactly what I wanted and he would "research" 4 days of his research ended with me calling and saying I found the car less than 200 miles away to be transferred. Fine, I was going to travel and purchase the car on a Friday evening when the night before at 10:30PM the salesman calls me to explain I have an issue with financing. I was irritated at this point calling so late at night, why couldn't he have called next morning. I then did research on pricing. KBB.com had the cars suggested retail price for $8150 in pristine condition versus Car Max's "No Haggle Low Price" of $9998 in average condition. Really, I think I will be taking my financing somewhere else.

I had dealt with CarMax on two separate occasions--once for trading in my Nissan Altima for an Infiniti G35 and a few weeks ago selling back the Infiniti because I was moving overseas. They gave me an appraisal offer for $19, 000. I thought it was a fair offer for a...

I am experiencing the same situation.I traded in my car in August and am still getting harassed by Wells Fargo over $ 280 because the pay off was short. At first Wells Fargo told me they agreed to take the short amount then they said it was short because of missing money from the warranty and now they tell me its in audit status. This has been going on for months with each side blaming the other and one of the last WF reps told me I was delinquent.

All I did was trust carmax and wells fargo to do their jobs. My family has bought 8 cars in 3 years from carmax but this is changing my mind and wells fargo has lost my business forever.

I just had a similar bad experience with a CarMax in San Diego. A car was advertised on their website for $16,9K and it was supposed to be transferred for free from the LA area to San Diego so I could test drive it.

The sales rep texted me when it came in and I noticed that the ad suddenly said "N/A" for the price. When I then went in to test drive it the price had gone up by $3K from what was advertised online. When I questioned this the sailesperson gaslighted me -- claimed the new price was the only price -- but then conceded that it happens a lot that customers come in with an advertised price for a specific car and the actual price is more. He later texted me and claimed he didn't say that.

Right.

My spouse and I are filing a bait-and-switch complaint with the State of CA. This is a crooked operation.

Never, Never, Ever go to CARMAX

Henderson, NV Carmax: I thought buying a car at CARMAX was supposed to be easy. The kids were mislead and misunderstood. A salesman named Ben and the other guy they had today didn't bother to be sure that they understood the sales tax not being able to be included in the financing. He assumed that they understood that because they had a Cali address, (even though they only had it because He is USMC), they would have to pay Cali taxes and that those taxes wouldn't be included in the loan. They only had $3000 and they put all of that down on the car never dreaming that Cali taxes could not be included in the financing...even the finance guy RJ didn't bother to explain, it was a total cluster. We were there for 7 hours (yes, SEVEN HOURS) trying to get things right. If I would have had my way, I would have cancelled the deal and gone elsewhere. Thanks to his grandparents, everything was taken care of. I WILL NEVER BUY A CAR FROM CARMAX AND I RECOMMEND THAT EVERYONE STAY AWAY AS WELL. I can't say it enough; NEVER, NEVER, EVER GO TO CARMAX.

Most dealerships are not able to collect taxes for customers who live in other states, unless the state the dealership is in requires the purchaser to pay that state's tax. Example: NV dealerships can't charge a customer from CA the CA sales tax because the dealership is in NV. However, CA dealerships can charge a customer from NV the CA sales tax because they are required to charge every customer CA sales tax regardless of where they live.

Sounds like your kids should have asked more questions and walked when they didn't understand or like what they were hearing.

I bought a car from carmax, changed my mind 4 days later and returned it. It took 2 hours from the minute I walked in, to walking out with a car, and it took 35 minutes to return it. Total time spent, less than 3 hours to buy and return the car, no hassle, no haggle as advertised.

7 hours?

who you crapping?

Mislead?

no, your kid is a ***.

and they never ever want to see you in their store either.

Carmax - Tulsa store shorted me $27.28 on the check for my car tag.

My name is Elizabeth Burke. Carmax in Tulsa shorted me $27.28 on my check for my car tag which I had paid for in my loan. There was a mix-up with my tag at Carmax because they took over 30 days finding it. Then they had told me they sent it to my bank. My bank called them and corrected the mistake. I went to the tag agent and the check was short. My father has just recently died last week and this is the first time I've been able to contact you and the store is closed due to bad weather. Can you help me?
