Carmax raleigh nc bad deals

I purchased a car from carmax after the 30 days you are stuck. They have tried over two years to fix and refix oil leaks and many other problems so I have decided to turn the junk into bank repo. Its better to file than to pay for junk. I have heard of many others purchasing bad cars from this company stay away from this used car dealer. Its better to purchase unseen than to purchase from these rip off guys. I have allowed them over and over to try fix the oil leak but they cannot fix it. Holly springs nc

Carmax crooked

I bought a Saturn from Carmax a month ago. As I was leaving the lot I noticed someting very wrong with the transmission. That was three and a half weeks ago. The sent my car to Saturn and thats the last ive heard. I have spoken to every service manager and even the gm. They all give me different answers. My biggest issue is they refuse to supply me with a written statement honoring my lost time on the 30 day bumper to bumper warranty. This company claims they are different, but its all a facade. Total BS. Stay away from Carmax in vegas, and Saturn's service department as well. gggrrrrrr

People wake up and just keep your car until you absolutely need another car. Even if you put money into your previous car, its still cheaper than having big payments!!

Carmax needs to be reported!

My mother and I purchased a Dodge Intrepid from Carmax last year in May. I have so much to say about this vehicle and their poor customer service. They are crooks and something needs to be done. I have for daughters one being an 18 month old and I can't afford to be turning my vehicle off everytime I come to a complete stop because the transmission is slipping. This is very unsafe. They say the squeaky wheel gets the oil, so maybe if we all come together with our complaints Carmax will stop getting away with selling people Lemons. They are very helpful during the purchasing process but soon as you drive off the lot they turn on you. I'm a single mother and now I may have to purchase a new transmission for a 2003 with now 60,000 miles on it, which should not be happening. This vehicle has been serviced when it should and has not been dogged out. Their appraising is such a scam when you take your vehicle back. The Manufactors need to know these things because Carmax is making certain vehicle brands look very bad. Now I would never buy another Dodge in my life all because of Carmax.. They need to be stopped!!!

I bought a 2004 Dodge Intrepid from CARMAX in 2005. It had 10,000 miles on it when I bought it.

I now have 120,000 plus miles on it and it has been virtually maintenance free: regular oil changes, two sets of ties and two brake jobs in eight years. The person above with all the whining said it all when she spelled four as for and says she is a single mom with four, wait, for children.

@PissedConsumer734494

Julio, your not so bright yourself buying a Dodge. There is no way in *** that car was maintenance free for 120k.

#538318

Just a thought but I always recommend a Toyota or Honda. American cars are not worth the money in my opinion.

If you do like American cars and just have to have one, please expect more frequent repairs than normal. You have a choice on your next vehicle, but try and keep the vehicle you have now and only buy when you absolutely must buy.

#64442

You can all stop commenting; the problem has been taken care of.

#51447

So many unhappy people in this world.Sounds like a case for anger management.Did she mention that possible her teenager screwed the transmission on his nights out.Or does she let the car come to a complete stop when backing out before dropping it into gear. Has she took time to service the transmission on a regular base's.?All these questions need closure.Perhaps payments are eating her alive and she does not have money put aside for repairs.Cars are like humans we all tend to break down and wear out.Do we yell and scream at the doctor for our failure to take care of ourselves. For what it is worth.I was told at a young age to believe what you see and only half of what you hear.Just thought i would throw in my two cents worth.

#44453

Lady i feel ur pain but you bought a dodge intrepid ...lol thos cars SUCK and that wouldve happened no matter where you bought the car

#28547

This is for customer_rep defend. She did state that she had the car for about a year!

And why does she need to explain her driving abilities, who purchases a car for thousand's of dollars to screw it up purposley, are you ***? Kinda defeats the purpose don't ya think. I swear, ingnorant people.

You might want to learn how to spell before attempting to be rude to others in the future. It doesn't make you sound very intelligent.

#20373

You bought a used Intrepid. There's a reason they don't make them anymore. Research your used car next time before purchasing.

#19920

I like your complaint. You don't tell us how long you have had the car, you don't tell us your driving history or abilities.

She they doesn't know if maybe you drive like a mad woman and screwed it all up. Grown up and next time don't be a *** and be a single mom and expect to use that to gain our sympothy.

Carmax in Indianapolis, IN is a joke!!!!

Carmax is not all it's cracked up to be. I barely escaped being ripped off by them, as I returned a car I bought but hardly even got to drive. My salesman was genuinely nice at first, helping me with the transfer of a car from another state. The car had been a rental, so I was a little skeptic, but they assured me the car was in great condition accept for a dent in the door and tear in the seat, which would be fixed at their cars go through a "125 point inspection". Well, they didn't fix it. I went to see the car and there was so much *** wrong with it, but they assured me it could all be fixed. It was only physical flaws and it was used, so I told myself to get over it and decided to go ahead and buy the car. As soon as I left the lot, the brake light went out. The CD player stopped working 2 days later, and I took the car back to have everything fixed. What was supposed to be a two-days-tops repair, turned in to over 7. They continously lied to me about doing the repairs, and kept changing what they were actually working on and when it would be done. No one could give me a straight answer on the day it would be finished. The day I finally was able to pick the car up, they got finished right at closing. They pulled it out into the service bay with overspray over the entire car, having just painted over the fender where they had fixed the dent. I then preceded to tell them off, screaming why the bullsh!t hadn't been finished before then, and what the *** it took so long to do if they just finished with it that day. I did get my transfer fee back, the only good thing that came out of it. And the fact that I found the same exact car for about $5,000 less than theirs through a private party. Plus, the private party knew someone who bought a car through Carmax and was ripped off too!!! I forgot to mention that they also ran my transfer fee through my bank account 3 times!!! They blamed this on a computer crash, but I should have known then to take my business elsewhere. Carmax is a joke. They have a bunch of dumba$$ salesmen, with idiotic managers, and a worthless service department who don't know *** about cars. There was no way I wanted that car bad enough to go through with the sale after being treated the way I was, no one even saying they were sorry. And to top it all off, the dipsh!ts don't even know I still am in their rental car they gave me while they were working on mine!!! What a bunch of idiots. And the store I'm referring to is the one in Indianapolis, Indiana, but the store that originally had the car was in Fayetteville, North Carolina. They're all a bunch of b!tches to me, either way.

Since the ceo doesn't care about whats happening at carmax stores, I have a suggestion. Reduce the commission for a vehicle sale to $75, or cut commission out all together.

Sales consultants can be paid hourly around $14/hr. This way the ceo can use all that extra money and give it to his buddies on Wall St and make more money! So what if employees quit, carmax can always hire new people. Plus, it makes the books look really good that carmax is always hiring!

I also suggest carmax stops those silly burgers and dogs lunches.

Let's be real here, if the ceo wants to show some appreciation for employees free lunches just aint cutting it. Employees do complain as they take their burger and walk away saying to each other how cheap carmax is.

#668323

Lance, unfortunately carmax doesn't really care what happens after a sale. They just want your MONEY.

I have also bought several vehicles thru indianapolis location and I do have a extended warranty that I have had to use twice this year for the vehicle I have currently and am not impressed with there service department at all especially due to the fact I am a Ase mechanic myself but as is with the warranty I want them to fix it that's why I bought it , first repair all break lights went out and blew bulbs due to short , there reasoning the bulbs all burnt out at once and they changed them all and gave me vehicle back , wrong still didn't work I researched the problem told them what was wrong and they fixed it second time I took it to them AC was out alternator went out and Had problem engaging into drive from initial start up they had it a week , they tried selling me a battery saying mine was original my car is 2003 battery was from 2007 not original they said tested and it was bad funny cause after I got car back I took it to two different auto places who said it was good . The other repairs where made under the warranty that I just have to pay a deductible of 250 for although they charged me a check out fee for the battery when I had vehicle towed into them I told them it was alternator bad which it was under warranty so kinda wandering how the test wasn't under warranty since same test same machine to test alternator and battery , also had vehicle a week which is fine I told them to take time and make sure it was fixed right as I don't have time to keep comming back . Get it last Friday and guess what AC doesn't work still awesome job guys Not start taking your time and making sure stuff is fixed right before you kick it out the door so now Monday I get to waiste more time taking it back again :(

#646137

Notice how anonymous put 4 EXCLAMATION points after their complaint? That is a good indication of *** pissed off they are! 8)

#646135

Anonymous, the transfer fee you got back was a good thing. Some folks get their transfer fee back, and some dont.

It depends, and that is very bad for carmax to be inconsistant with returning transfer fees. If you do it for one, you have to do it for all. I would recommend to thoroughly check the vehicle over when it arrives from another location.

Do what carmax does during an appraisal, look around and point out blemishes and tell them their vehicle is not worth what they are asking, then tell THEM what "true market" value is! Give them a taste of their own medicine.

#646086

I have to say since my last comments I've been doing a lot of thinking, and I'm amazed at how unfair I've been to Carmax. They really are a great company.

I was just frustrated because sales is a tough racket, and I couldn't quite cut it at Carmax, which obviously left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I've been lashing out on this site for almost a year now! Sorry you guys all had to suffer through that, and I'd also like to offer a personal apology to Carmax as well! Keep up the good work, guys! ,)

Ultimately, I think of Carmax like I think of democracy.

It's not perfect by any means, but it's the best option we've got.

CarMax Is a Rip Off!!!

Well my Girlfriend and I bought a 03 dodge durango from carmaxwith 60k in dec 07. It is now june 08 and its been 12k later and I've had nothing but problems with the truck. I've never has any problems with any other dodge i've had and carmax hasn't made it any easier. in one month i've when to 8 different carmax's in 2 different states and 4 different towns and they just can't get anything right. they never seem to find any work orders and they never seem to fix everything I ask them to. They will only fix the easiest thing thats wrong with it then give us the car back a week later just to have another problem a month later. Our maxcare is about to run out and I'm not sure I wanna extended it. Also they try and make us pay for looking at the car so I tend to get very mad with them and they waive the fee's after I threated to sue. i'm now thinking to make a big lawsuit out of it because I bought the car for 21,000 which is 4 thousand more then what they said and 2000 more then the kkb of a friends car lot and I'd like to trade it in but they want to give me 9000 for it and they want me to make up for the rest that i owe or tack it on to my new car..So now that I'm very mad I'm wondering if anyone else has this kind of problem so i can make a compelling argument with them. please email me at clayloveland@***.com if anyone wants to talk about their problems.

*** cars at carmax.

I bought a 2002 Land Rover Discovery at Carmax. I took the car to a Land Rover dealership to get fully inspected. Cost me $500.00. I am so happy that I did. I got 4 pages of things that needed to be repaired or replaced. I was in shocked since they boast about their so called inspection. I did not return the car right away. Instead I gave them the list and they fixed almost everything. After that happened I returned the car. I only did that for the next person who was going to buy the car. I since went to a Land ROver dealership and purchased a land rover that was a 2004, had a DVD player and was certified for 8K more. It was worth it. I do not reccomend Carmax at all to anyone.

LadyScot, read this post!! I have been saying all along, CARMAX DOES NOT FIX ALL PROBLEMS WITH THEIR VEHICLES!Thats WHY THEY COST LESS!!!!

What a scam. I hope people are reading these posts. I recommend going to a real dealership and buy a certified vehicle if you want to buy used.

carmax 125 point inspection is just a gimmick to make the customer feel confident. Nothing can be further than the truth.

Stay away from Columbus Easton CARMAX

I recently went to CarMax to look at a used car. The first thing I told the salesman was "I don't need financing, I allready have obtained it through my Bank." No problem he says. After seeing the car I liked he goes into power sell mode. He said he needed some personal info, i.e. SS#, JOB TITLE , Annual income? Like a fool i gave it to him and wham He had loans for me to take the car home that day. I did not ask him to do that, he slyly said it was for their records. I took an 8 point credit hit on my credit report because I WAS ***.! DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! DON'T GIVE OUT YOUR SS#!!!!
