baconcheeseburgerandfries

Your sadly mistaken, while not all the salepeople make 100k there are usualy 2 to 3 at every store that do. Look for the yellow/gold shirts. 6/hr lol if that makes you feel better while lifting your heavy boxes then think that.

#75042

It is without a doubt possible to make 100k a year selling at Carmax.

The average is way closer to 40k a year, but I work with one guy who does make 100k a year.

And it's easy.

#71240

Probably in dreamland....

No way in *** someone in Car Sales, especially @ Carmax makes 100k! Exception for if you are selling Ferraris', Lamborghinis', Bentleys',and Aston Martins or in California. I personally know BMW & Lexus salespeople doesn't even make those high marks.

Then, if you're including total salary amount for three years...then I guess I make over $100k for working in a warehouse.

Seriously, I find that hard to believe....

#71239

carmax is a great company some salesman make a 100,ooo a year part-time may br 35,000

#64923

They did the same "stuff" to me; twice!

One car was value at $775 but offered me $250. Which I should of tried selling it privately or use it as work commuter for my 72 miles a day.

2nd car (Which I traded in for) was $12k; *** me trade it in for $10k. That's okay, cause they tried selling it back on the lot for $15,500 (which was more than what I paid for brand new) and it sat there for five months. The price tag kept going down all the way to $11,400. So it back fired! :grin

I have spent $44k there: Two cars (on loans), service bills, and parts counter visits.

Yeah, there were hand full employees who treated me like a "loyal customer." Then the rest, gave me jealousy looks because I am 25, female who actually works for a living making almost double what their making. You know; HARD LABOR!! FYI: Carmax Associates only make $9.00/hr. Sales Consultant...when they're not selling; they get base hourly rate of $6/hr! Which is sort of on a loan until you sell again. I would pay to see all those jealous female Carmax associates stand in a foreign container and manually unload boxes of shipping tape that usually weighs about 35-40 lbs. I bet they would quit within five minutes!

About month ago, I was in there. And everyone in sales gave me dislike looks. No one greeted. So I'm like "Fine, enjoy watching that new Honda dealership (that’s being built at the moment) down the street get all the future Carmax business..." Not my problem! My employer is making their marks still and my job isn't in danger.

you should pull your head out of your ***! sales associates @ carmax are 100% commisioned.

listen to yourself you holy-than-thou ***! I bet you are as ugly as you are nasty

#674611
@PissedConsumer674604

Sales people on average make just above poverty wages. The small percentage that make over 60k will probably put in 70 hours a week, use their own cell phone, and wont have any kind of social life. So do the math, and see what level of a fool each sales person is.

Carmax warning do not buy

Do not buy a car from Carmax in Hillside, Ill, I had purchased a car not even 2 years ago have had it in the shop countless times, and this is the first time I had ever taken it on a road trip, to my surprise on the way back I run into a rainstorm and found that my sunroof was leaking so bad it destroyed my interior and this after they had replaced it 3 times, but thats the least of the problems, now I also need a whole new engine and a supercharge assembly talk about a blow in the face everything after ext. warranty has expired?

Didn't need my money

I attempted to buy a 2008 Explorer from Carmax in Monrovia, a salesman came up after we looked around for a while and ask to help us. I told him I wanted to buy a Explorer or mustang for my son. His limit was $20,000 and I would put down $10,000. He walked around with my son and he desired a mustang. I told the salesmen if when my son drove it and he liked it I would take it. He took my sons license and we waited for him to come back. Then we waited more and more, I saw him helping some other lady and decided that this guy wasn't that interested in a sale. My son grabbed his license which was on the counter and we started to leave. He had the nerve to ask whats up. I told him we were leaving, then he said here let me give you my card. I told him to keep his card and told him that I don't wait to give my money away. Carmax is a joke, I spent my money elsewhere

Carmax sold me a car with a defected driver door.

I purchased a 2005, Chrevolet, Trailblazer from Carmax October 27, 2008. After 6 months the door on the drivers' side could not be opened with a key if locked from the inside. I had to unlock the passenger door with the key, then unlock the vehicle in order to enter the vehicle from the drivers' side. The Service Center at Carmax found a rod for the cylinder lock was off the clip at the bottom which held it together, it was loose. The clip was repaired and the rod was installed and routed correctly. I was charged $97.00. I asked that the amount be waived, in that, the door was defected when I purchased the vehicle; however, a manager at Carmax only would give a $20.00 credit and said he was being generous. I strongly believe Carmax should be liable for the full amount, $97.00, not just $20.00. I was sold a vehicle with a defected drivers' door.

So much for your inspections

I bought an '05 Dodge ram from these clowns at the Greenville, SC location last year. I blew a tire last week and was about to replace it with the spare, only to find my truck had NO JACK OR LUG WRENCH SET. I couldn't even get my spare tire down without it! I was lucky someone with a similar dodge ram stopped to help. I called Carmax and wasn't able to even get a live person on the phone. I finally just drove there and spoke to a manager, only to have him tell me:"You bought your truck a year ago, what do you want us to do about it? Why didn't you tell us sooner?" DIDN'T TELL YOU SOONER?! I'm supposed to check to see if a truck that was supposed to have a huge inspection has the factory-supplied tools I need in case of a blowout?! The only reason I even bought my truck there was to avoid this sort of thing! I went to 3 salvage yards and came up empty, and all the ones I see on Ebay are about $100! I wrote their website an e-mail explaining my problem, and told them whoever inspected my truck is an ***. They left a message on my phone saying they'd help, but when I tried to call back, I couldn't reach them. I still haven't heard anything. Even though I was perfectly happy with my truck, I'm now considering trading it in due to whatever else they may have "overlooked".

Carmax automotive service repairs are unreliable and costly.

I really hope that this will make everyone think twice before buying and or servicing a vehicle from Carmax. They claim to do such a complete inspection of their vehicles yet I had to have a rear window repaired the first day I bought my 02 Jeep Liberty. I do not have children or anyone who rides in the backseat(actually no-one since the repair). The first time someone put the window down it does EXACTLY the same malfunction. It took over 5 days to get appt scheduled to repair. And was charged for exact same repair... If this was the only problem I had I wouldn't complain. But within 10 day after purchase 3 of the five tires blew out or failed while driving on the highway. As well as an electrical short with the lights. Their work leaves a lot to be desired, as well as their customer service... I wish all was an exaggeration but it is not. I pray you are smarter than i was and stay clear...

Carmax is AWFUL....Don't buy from them.

I bought a 2005 Ford Expedition from CarMax in Columbia, S.C. I have had the truck up at Carmax 6 times already and only had the car for three months. Bought an extended warrenty on the truck. There is a nocking in the engine, The park sensors are bad, and now the engine light can on flashing, and Good old Carmax is saying there is nothing wrong with my vehicle, and wants to charge me to get my truck back. I am so pissed off with Carmax right now. The manager doesn't want to do anything about it. I promise I will not try to sell or buy another car from them ever again, if it was the last company that sold cars.

Quit ***. Don't buy old *** cars

#674966
@PissedConsumer674884

Bringing a truck back 6 times in 3 months could only mean the previous owner was so sick of all the issues this Ford had.So carmax ended up with it, and made money but obviously did not bother fixing it before selling it. carmax made a sale, and that is whats important to carmax, and nothing else matters.

Fords, like many American vehicles are horrible vehicles compared to Japanese makes.

The reply by anonymous from South Carolina is just exactly the attitude carmax has. Frustrated and ruthless SOB's!

#124175

sorry for your bead experience, carmax sells bad cars.

#57176

Might want to request that the timing chain guides are looked at, all fords have lots of wear on them and would be covered under most warranty's.

Looking at the guides would require removing of driver side valve cover.

Hope this helps!

Actually, a car salesman told me that no dealership will buy or sell your car for blue book - they don't even care about what blue book says. They have something they call 'black book' with their own prices.

I disagree that they are horrible! I just bought a 2004 Cadillac SRX from the memphis location, That is the best car buying experience I will EVER have!

if you go and get a car from the memphis go to Stephen Rogers. He is office 1.

They clean up the car and try their best to make you happy! :grin

Carmax is a joke to their employees...

First of all they only pay $150 per car sold. That is the exact same pay that it was when they opened in 1993. I got fired for not splitting a deal properly with my husband who also worked there. (If you can believe that!) We worked the same customer together but kept the deal in my name, per a managers recommendation. I made $20 more per sale due to a certain level I had achieved in selling. I mean who really cares if you split the deal or not. It should be worked out between the 2 sales people and leave it at that. Well, they fired us both over a simple thing like that!!! Unbelievable, huh? So, beware if anybody is considering working there. It truly is a joke working for them. We found that out after working there a while, being dedicated reliable employees.

We miss you Austin Ligon...Ever since you left the company it has changed tremendously. Things happen here that would never happen under your management.

Come back to the five and dime Austin Ligon, Austin Ligon. Some good things have occured: 1. Terry Albert was fired. What a dork he was.

Taking credit for others successes. 2.

Nelson Johnson is gone too. No loss either.

Written by Carmax Cross Functional Progra, on 08-10-2009 16:47

I also was lied to about the Cross Functional Management Program. How can you be a Foutune 500 Company and lie to people about giving them a raise to go into the cross functional management program. It's a disgrace and an embarrassement. Someone needs to be fired over this. I know those 4 original managers as well and they were all dedicated to the company and their jobs. They were lied to just like I was lied to. I guess what goes around comes around - eventually. If your taking a crossfunctional position or being considered for a manager position you better get everything in writing.

If any company needs a UNION it's Carmax. Once a GREAT company when Austin Ligon was the CEO. Back then it was "what you knew that would get you the promotion you deserved. Now it's who you know not what you know. They are a now a wolf in sheeps clothing. I remember those Cross Funcional Managers: Troy, Jim, Travis and Donnell. All were great managers and were lied to about their pay and incentives. Now they are gone. What a loss to the company. Tom Folliard has no conscious or he would fire Dan Johnston and Linda White for lying to those guys. Employees should ban together and get Unionized or shut this place down. Pay back is *** ya know.

#48490

I would like to say that my experience as a part-time SC at CarMax was a great one. The LGM Brad, was very professional and lacked that snoody attitude.

CarMax Gastonia is a very good place to work. The only problem that I could see is that the SC lacks the authority to make a decision. This slowed the process down and made the customer a little edgy. I have a MBA and know how to break numbers down and could of streamline the process much easier then involving a manger.

The slow economy has hurt CarMax.

Plus the number of SC’s to customer ratio was too high while I was there so selling a car was hard. And lastly I wasn’t a good SC because after reviewing the customers Debt to Income ratio may of my customers could not really afford the car even though they wanted it so I strongly advised against it.
