I PURCHASED A $43,000.00 USED CAR FROM THEM AND FOUND THAT IT HAD BEEN WRECKED. THEY NEVER DIVULGED THAT FACT AND I DIDN'T SEE THE DAMAGES WITH THEIR EVENING LIGHT. I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND THEY HAD SOME JACK LEGS ATTEMPT TO BUFF AND RE-PAINT THE DAMAGED AREAS. THE WORK WASN'T DONE PROPERLY AS THEY BURNED & Angry BUFFED RIGHT THROUGH THE PAINT TO THE PRIMER. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS TO BE WATER SANDED AND IT WASN'T. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT AS IT WAS OK ACCORDING TO THEIR STANDARD AND EVEN ENCOURAGED ME TO LITIGATE AGAINST THEM. DON'T EVER BUY A CAR FROM THEM! Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

We bought a 2008 Cadillac SRX in 2010 at this location and got the extended warranty. Over the course of the year we owned it it had spent 35 days in the shop for multiple drive train issues totaling $3800 .

We didn't get charged a penny and they provided a car for us every time. The service department was great, Brandon was our service manager. I would definitely buy there again even though we got a problem car.

I traded the car in after 12 months and got reimbursed for 2/3 of our warranty purchase price. So our experience was great, albeit many years ago.

Found a vehicle on their website located in Clearwater Florida. For a $200.00 transport fee CarMax stated that they would transfer the car to South Carolina with in a set amount of time. This car was left Clearwater, Florida according to their records on March 5, 2019....

Assuming you used a credit and not a debit card to pay the $200 fee, dispute the charge, altho there was probably some sort of disclaimer stating the fee was non-refundable. Check this out by going to their site and reading what you signed up for again.

Carmax review: SHORT HANDED

Details
Two months ago I opted to buy a car fro the Gastonia NC dealership and what a mistake that was. This company sold me a $499.99 dollar remote starter to be installed at Freeman's Stereo. When I got to the store I wanted to compare different brands and prices. I found one with better features for 139.00 less. We called the manager of Carmax and not only did he approve the install of the upgraded unit but told me that within six weeks I would get a check for the difference. Well it hasn't come and I guess they are pissed for me telling the public that they sold me a cart that had been wrecked as nobody returns my phone calls. DON'T BUY A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY!

My son wanted to purchase a vehicle. He went to Carmax in Calgary. His credit is abysmal, BUT he had just started a new job with an excellent wage. He couldn't qualify for a loan. Carmax suggested he find a co-signer. When I worked in banking many years ago, the policy...

I agree with @CloseBeetle176. I understand your age, however, I feel as though you must have had some good faith in your son and thought/hoped he would pay for the truck because you signed off on the loan, your question is a question you should have asked before agreeing to allow your son to buy a car.

Also, there have been many instances when people can walk into any car dealership with no income at all but because they have stellar credit they are approved. You do not need a job to get an approval because if anything the fact that you have great credit can also mean that you may possibly have a great credit card to back up the payments or cost of the vehicle if something like what actually happened to your son happens! Hopefully, you don't put too much faith into your son again and let him talk you into buying him another car.

Good Luck! That was nice of you to help but only you know your son which means you doubted the situation in the beginning.

Update by user Jan 23

CarMax has made no effort to contact me so I filed a complaint with the BBB, State Attorney Generals office and their CEO. If non of my efforts are fruitful my only recourse is to litigate.

I guess you don't really need a lecture at this point, but I'd bet you will examine your next auto purchase in person and up close. We've all committed errors in judgment regarding cars (even brand new ones) - don't beat yourself too harshly - unfortunately, sometimes that's how we learn important lessons that we remember forever.

Maybe this will help you to avoid an even worse mistake sometime in the future.

I've made a lot of blunders in a lot of subjects but try to learn from it (TRY, that is) and I promise you that I recall clearly and distinctly anything that cost me as much as your issue has you. Better luck !

I purchased a 2007 VW Jetta from CarMax in July 2016. It had 88K and seemed to be in good condition. I specifically told the salesperson that I was looking for a car because the A/C went out in mine and the car was really old and I didn't want to dump money into it for...

Sorry this happened to you but Jetta's tend to have those problems and not to mention you purchased an 2007 with 88k miles, that's quite a lot. luxury car engines are known to last up to 300k miles or more but a jetta is questionable. Good Luck.
