CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland attempted to steal $$17,668.90 from my elderly parents. They succeeded in getting approximately $10,531.36.

CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland denied my 77-year-old father a Cash for Clunkers deal, told him it was over 3-days before it actually ended. Cost to Dad: $4500

CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland - an "Authorized Nissan Dealership" - sold my Dad a Nissan Altima the day after Cash for Clunkers really ended. He was offered financing only from two banks, and chose the lower at 9.39%.

Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation (Nissan Corporate's financing company) was offering 1.9% financing or $199 lease on Altimas the day Dad bought his car ... CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland DID NOT OFFER my Dad 1.9% financing or a $199 lease.

CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland also added a $1,049.50 extended warranty onto the purchase contract - without his knowledge or permission.

We, his family, contacted the dealership and demanded they re-do the deal. Dad returned the car, dropped the $1049.50 warranty and refinanced it at 1.9%. NO PROBLEM QUALIFYING. The difference in finance charges over the life of the loan at 1.9% v. 9.39%: $6,088.04

Total attempted rip off from Dad: $11,637.54 ($4500 Clunkers + $6088.04 financing + $1049.50 warranty)

Total successfully ripped off: $4500 Cash for Clunkers

Made me look at Mom's CarMax at White Marsh purchase 6-mos. earlier.

This "Authorized Nissan Dealership" sold my Mom a Nissan Rogue On Feb. 19, 2009. Nissan offered 2.9% financing on Rogues that day or $199 lease... CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland DID NOT OFFER my mother 2.9% financing or a $199 lease.

Instead, she was offered financing at 8.25% -- through CarMax Credit!

CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland also added a $1769.00 extended warranty onto the purchase contract without her knowledge or permission.

Total cost of financing at 8.25%: $6,578.86

Estimated financing at 2.9%: $2,316.50

Total attempted financial scam on this family: $17,668.90

($4500 Clunkers + $6088.04 financing difference + $1049.50 warranty for Dad; + $1769 warranty + $4,262.36 financing difference for Mom )

The General Manager of CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland was offered the opportunity to fairly and justly remedy the situation; he declined.

Is this what Nissan had in mind when it when it partnered with CarMax to sell its new cars?

Scamming senior citizens?

Predatory lending?

Deceptive business practices?

Compromised ethics?

Misrepresentation?

Fraud?

CarMax at White Marsh's General Manager believes he has no responsibility to the consumer as an authorized Cash for Clunkers participant or as an authorized Nissan dealer. We argue that with each association comes responsibility and a reasonable, expected level of professional standards and honest business practices.

a. Mr. Geiger was denied his Cash for Clunkers discount simply because the CarMax General Manager decided to no longer participate. How can a dealership be permitted to enroll and participate in the federal program, but also be permitted to arbitrarily decide an end-date different from the federal program's end date? And how is a customer supposed to know that if the dealer is still listed, as this dealer is still listed today, September 22, 2009, as a participating dealer in the program? See www.cars.gov – "Dealer Locator." These practices amount to changing the rules in the middle of the game, without a requirement to notify all of the participants.

b. How can a dealership be permitted to market and represent itself as an "Authorized Nissan Dealer" without a requirement that it participate in the same national promotions and programs as every other "Authorized Nissan Dealer" in the country? We called several other Nissan dealerships the day after my father purchased his Altima, and each reported that 1.9% financing was the current promotion available on the Nissan Altima he purchased. Why didn't CarMax offer him this promotion until we took the car back to the dealership and demanded it?

c. How can a dealership be permitted to market and represent itself as an "Authorized Nissan Dealer" without a requirement that it represent the brand to the consumer in a consistent, reliable manner?

We do not think it unreasonable to expect an authorized Nissan dealership to be aware of, and to offer, every single Nissan customer it serves every promotional program available to them at the time they are purchasing a new Nissan vehicle.

Shame on CarMax at White Marsh. This unethical behavior needs to be exposed.

How many other unsuspecting Nissan customers have been ripped off in this same manner by this dealership?

Never go to CarSux. They're a scam almost everywhere now, and they sell mostly over-priced junk with lots of problems.

And they give you far-less on trade than even the lowest trade-in from a real dealer. And no negotiation either. Sure, that's the way most robbers do it. They are absolute ***.

Never let any elderly folks anywhere near these thieves. The elderly will lose THOUSANDS of their hard-earned money to CarSux.

PhiDelt... actually...

you are the dumb one. CarMax does not only sell used cars.

Most, if not all of them, are also authorized NEW car dealers for various brands. Do your research before you open-mouth-and-insert-foot.

Cash for clunkers was only for new cars. The fact that your dad tried to do that at Carmax makes you and your family dumb
