My issues with carmax are far worse I purchased on 4/2/10 a used AWD car that was not AWD. Carmax has apologized for the mistake but wont take any reasonable steps to fix it like get me the correct car from another CarMax store but they won't because none of the other ones are as cheap as mine.

Legally they are required to give me what I purchased they have not and so far refuse to.

They have offered to cancel the sale but they sold my trade in so I walk away with nothing and carmax does not pay for their mistake I don't think so. I have called several times a day for the past few days pushing the issue that I want what I was supposed to get not what I got and they should bear the price difference not me.

I agree with you 100%! carmax is a horrible place to work. There are a few carmax corporate and managers that will come on here and defend carmax, but many of the posts from current employees, and ex employess will tell you carmax is a horrible place to work.

Carmax review in Chicago, Illinois: *** poor service

Bought a 2004 Jaguar from them one year ago. Since then I have spent more money out of pocket on this car despite having purchased an extended warranty. The *** poor service started shortly after purchasing the car. I wanted to take it in to Carmax for an oil change. I was told by the service department at the dealer where purchased that it would be THREE WEEKS to get it in. 3 Weeks for an oil change! Complained to an interested service manager who promised better service and that it shouldn't have happened. So the next time it was do for an oil change I went through the exact same problem. This time I called the extended warranty department and got the "we're sorry....blah blah blah" again! So I gave up and took it to the local Jaguar dealer. Now I experience transmission problems 6 weeks ago. Took it to the Jag dealer. Carmax wouldn't pay for it to be fixed so it cost me $1,000 out of pocket. Now five weeks later the same issue. This time Carmax will pay for a rebuilt transmission but they are jerking the Jaguar dealer around and I am still without my car. I have been without my car for over a week and according to the Jag dealer I may get my car back in a week or so if Carmax approves everything. Called the finance department and asked to speak with someone that could hear and take care of my issues, after spilling the whole sordid story to SUZANNE She said she could give me the number to the extended warranty department. NOW I'M ANGRY because she could have NOT wasted my time and just given me their number to begin with, plus she asked "so the Jaguaar dealer told you to bring it back to Carmax" that NEVER came up in my story...so she wasn't even paying attention. This company has lousy follow up and service. They are great at selling cars and extended warranties but totally miss the mark in the follow up. I intend to tell EVERYONE I know of the *** poor service that they deliver. I will NEVER buy a car from them again. BUYERS BEWARE...THEY JUST DON'T CUT IT!!!!!

Carmax review in Athens, Georgia: Terrible service & fine print on "no hassle" retun

CarMax Memphis location service staffed with incompetents and management hard to contact. Fine print on "no hassle" return is that you return the car with no loaner and wait minimum of 5-6 days for check. Initial inspection is a farce. Test drive limited to drive around the block-not enough to catch defects (squeak from engine on cold start and tires vibrate at interstate speed.) Stay away from CarMax. Fancy showroom and service bays are facades - focus is on profit not quality and customer satisfaction. Will buy certified used car from new car dealer next, not from a sleazy used car chain store.

Why would they give you a loaner if you return the car? Seriously??? If you were a dealership and someone returned your product would you give them a free car to drive around in for a few days while they shop at other dealerships?

And as for the test drive you could have told the sales consultant you want to drive farther than the normal route.

CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland attempted to steal $$17,668.90 from my elderly parents. They succeeded in getting approximately $10,531.36. CarMax at White Marsh, Maryland denied my 77-year-old father a Cash for Clunkers deal, told him it was over 3-days before it...

Watch out Carmax does not report repairs

Purchased car from Carmax and they show you the report on how clean the car is .Little do they tell you the work they did up front .Bought car with 15,000 miles only .Found out a week later when I took car in because air conditioner stopped working that they had replaced outer tierods and done other work also .Make sure you ask them for a log of all work done to a car if you are buying from them .How does a car with 15,000 need outer tie-rods unless it has been abused ?? I would never of bought this vehicle if they had told me up front ... Another word of advice.Take a thermometer to check and see if the air is really working your self ..

This is the most retarded complaint I have ever seen. Why would someone get mad b/c Carmax took the time to look over the car and repair an important safety issue like "worn tie rod ends".

I am a professional automotive technician and I have had to replace numerous tie rod ends under the manufacturer warranty. It wasn't due to abuse or negligence, that kind of stuff just happens to mechanical components. Mechanical repairs do NOT have to be reported anyway. Accident damage reports, yes.

Your buying a reconditioned used car, not a new one. Sometimes unforseen problems can occur after a purchase.
