CarMax - Filter Compartment Reinstallation Review from Matthews, North Carolina
I purchased a car nearly 2 months ago... In less than 2 months, every time I call the service department they do not call back - ever!!!
I always have to keep calling, repeatedly, to find someone in the service department. They're barely interested in you; constantly saying "well were busy, we have a lot of cars; were always busy; were very busy" - they simply want to sell you a car & don't want to follow up if you have a problem.
I had my air filter compartment checked, my air filter was filthy; Obviously, it was never changed upon their inspection, prior to the sale! On top of that, the air filter compartment had rocks and sand inside of the compartment.
I had them check for proof... The technician never reinstalled the air filter compartment correctly!!! It was left open taking all of that air into my engine - could have caused engine damage if I would have not checked behind them!!!
Great price! Service center is one of the worst I have ever experienced!!!
I am a mechanic; how do they figure - they can fool me!!!!!!!!!!
If I can catch them screwing up my car, I can only imagine what they are getting away with from the average consumer.
I have left many voice mails.... No call backs!
Contact the front desk clerk to make a complaint... She says "I'll give the complaint to the supervisor of the service department" (Yeah right) - still no call back; still no regard; still no customer service; still no satisfaction!!!
You have to bug them 2 death and 'still' no real concern for you or the car they sold.
Really guys??? Wow!!!

It is unbelievable what this company gets away with. Every single day certain employees and ex employees are secretly informing other institutions and people in certain communities on everyday practices at carmax. It is certainly a challenge for corporate to find the "rats" in their stores.
The department who takes care of "reconditioning" is in constant pressure from "Corporate" to reduce "all in cost" which means the cost of bringing cars up to their so called "renew" marketing tag.
There is even a contest that for all practical purposes rewards locations that "cut cost" on cars they "build".
That is why your air cleaner element was never replaced. Check you cabin air filter.....pretty sure it will be filthy as well!

I was a CarMax associate for quite some time. I am giving you the straight story.
The business is a farce centered around buying wholesale cars from people who have no other choice but to sell to them.
Upper management is comprised of an immature "fraternity" that has no business running a company of this size never mind the cash that they are pulling down at the consumers request.

Again, anyone with any competence was pushed out of carmax or left years ago.
