Carmax sold us a car that had been in an accident when they told us it had not. They gave us a "car report" (that was not car fax) that said no accidents. After a year of replacing headlights and getting alignments over and over we tried to trade the car in for a new car. That's when a reputable dealer told us about a prior accident. We could not trade it in. Carmax will not take the car back and we have to make payments on a piece of *** for 5 more years cause it is worth HALF of what we owe.

Can't sue 'cause it took us too long to figure it out.

Similar experience to others - the 125 point inspection is simply not performed. Purchased a 2008 Honda Civic with 11 thousand miles in March 2009. Driver's side power window was off track and quickly repaired but I was forced to devote an early morning to the process. Front brakes required replacement at the 15 thousand mile mark. Finally, the car was delivered with a slow leak in one tire which I did not catch until total failure. All in, I believe our buddies at carmax are a prime candidate for a class action law suit

Be careful with Carmax. I purchased a car from Carmax at Rivergate outside Nashville, TN in 2007. I purchased a 2005 Monte Carlo SS.

May 2007, I got in a horrific car wreck where I was dead on scene. After 1.5 million in medical and what not plus life long suffering and learning how to live again. State-farm informs me the car had dummy airbags.Fast forward to 2009.Carmax is suing me for the remaining balance of the car, WTF. The insurance company did not pay the loan off due to the airbags and told me not to settle with them. They want to go after my co-signer on the loan and to top it off the auctioned off the car against the insurance companies demands, including all my possessions in the car. I called Carmax and asked where the car went and they would not tell me.So everything that I had in there the time of the accident is gone and they want to call me at 8am and threaten and harass me for the remaining balance of the car and my co-signer. I told them talk to my lawyer.

Don't sell the farm for Carfax either. They only list what has been given to them. I bought a car from another dealership and was told the car had not been wrecked only to find out later it had been. The accident was not on Carfax. You need to have a reputable mechanic check out a car.

Wow...lot of p*ssed people in here. I am about to purchase a Mustang from them and checked "auto check" not "carFax" on the title. AutoCheck catches things that gets by "carFax". Hope my mustang isn't a lemon. My sis works at GMAC and checks out all vehicle reports, she even checked mine out. Its good. So hope these reports don't give you a false sense of security. :?

I recently purchased a vehicle from CarMax and made the mistake of paying cash. Five months later and I still have not recieved my title. The morons sent it to the wrong address and then had the nerve to tell me I'd have to take care of it myself.

I just want to fore warn any poor fool that is thinking about purchasing from CarMax. The minute they get your money you become persona non grata!!!!!

Buyers BEWARE!!!!!

Carmax does sell lemons...I bought my car from them 3 weeks ago and It has been back for mechanical problems 3 times now. I tried to contact Carmax as suggested by Chris of Carmax and got no respose. I suggested trading my car for another since it is an obvious lemon. The general manager at the Roseville store did not even listen to what I had to say. He waited for me to speak and came back with, we stand behind the car. I am sure they are waiting for the 30 days to expire since I didn't buy their extended warranty. I would never buy a car from them and would advise anyone to stay clear from their lies. :(

The business model Carmax has designed is wonderful. Sales Customer Service is excellent! Yet, once you purchase the car everything changes. I found that the Jaguar I purchased had numerous issues that the service representative tried to hide and would have if I had not spoken directly to the Jaguar dealer they sent my car to for repair. Thus, the 125 point inspection is bull!! In less than a year my car has had over $20k in repairs not to mention the down time. First they try to bully you and if you don't give in they offer to re-purchase the car at the purchase price but not include the payments you have already made or loss of enjoyment. Thus they are receiving unfair profits based on their false advertisements. We are a sue happy nation but not everyone wants to sue! But we don't want to be cheated!

The worst experience I have ever had as a consumer!!! Sales Luis Galletti started the experience by asking if we had a trade in, I was talking and he just kept looking at my fiance, finally my fiance started talking because it was apparent he was not listening to me. When we were test driving the car Galletti kept all his attention on my fiance even though my fiance told him repeatedly that the car was for me and the decision was up to me. Finally my fiance got so upset he quit test driving the cars so Galletti would get the idea the decision was up to me. I found a car I liked I figured the car would last longer then Galletti attitude. Come to find out the car was 3000 over book in this market is crazy, so they wanted that down. We later received a letter from Galletti saying we could sell our car for the estimate in 7 days all it said to bring was title or who had the lean on the car. I brought the car back 6 days later and talked to an inept front desk then talked to Manager Christina Gupta she laughed when we told her of Galletti behavior, then told us to come back in an hour she called us 10 minutes later asking about registration, nothing in the letter mentioned and when I was going to buy a car it wasn't brought up . My last vehicle was a lease so it wasn't current. She told us we had to get it current before we could sell it to them. Even though the cars they sell are not up to date with registration or emissions tests, all sold as is. The letter was a false statement. This was not in the letter, why couldn't she ask this before we left? Awful service I am telling everyone that I can to boycott Carmax!!!javascript:ac_smilie(':(')

Also a victim of the 120 point sham, inspection. They may have done that for the first two or three cars they sold but not anymore, it is a paper drill signed by the car wash soap dispenser attendant. Just beginning a long uphill journey for satisfaction. Given the amount of work they have done so far I should be happier, but now my confidence level in the longevity of this car is at rock bottom at its high point. Will support any site or protest of their methodes :sigh
