We took my imaculate 2003 Ford F250 Diesel Crew Cab Pickup truck to get a "fair evaluation and a great price " for it. The pushy asian kid talked our ears off with all of the "feel good" CarMax BS for a good 15 minutes before he finally took the keys and had his appraisal guy look it over. He drove it for 3 minutes, looked around it, and disappeared for 20 minutes.
Then asain kid came back. (Keep in mind that this truck Blue Books for trade in value of $21,000.00 low to $23,000.00 high!) He held up the appraisal sheet showing $8,000.00! We laughed and left. Took it across the street to Ken Grody Ford, where they bought it for $21,500.00!
The cars we saw on the CarMax lot as we were looking around, cost more used that you can buy a new car for. Example, a Hyundai was 2 years old for $16,788.00, Hyundai of Garden Grove has a new 2008 with all options for $15,350.00! Avoid this place-rip off!

didn't your mom tell you not to call people names! you took your truck that you paid way too much for to get your free CURRENT market value on it and are surprised the value is not what you paid for it!! I'm shocked!!! Depreciation.... Do ya watch the news - nobody wants to buy those gas (more expensive even diesel) guzzlers! What is Carmax suppossed to give you all that money you want out of the goodness of their hearts and just sit on it because you were stupid and paid too much??

Carmax gives you a free offer for your vehicle. If you dont like it, dont sell it. Why your mad I have no idea. Good job getting more at a different dealership, I am sure you payed 13000 to much for the vehicle you bought their. Nice work.

CarMax has grown so big it just doesn't care anymore. I bought a 2 year old Honda with the extended warranty 3 months ago. When the engine froze up, it turns out that it had a rebuilt engine in it, which was not mentioned in the CarFax report of the CarMax dealers report. I had to take carmax to court and fight it out to get my money back and some extra cash for their lying to me. California DMV investigated and determined that there was fraud on the part of CarMax, and are filing charges with the State Attorney Generals Office! Avoid these bunch of thieves!

Needless to say, I have heard bad stuff about CarMax a lot lately. I understand that it is usually a last resort for people too desperate to sell their cars on their own, and will take low ball prices. Sell it on your own on Ebay or Car Trader for a better price! Avoid buying from or selling to CarMax!
